Modern technology for students in Austria

The pandemic has made the need for digitisation in local schools clear. In Lower Austria, investments are therefore increasingly being made in state-of-the-art technology. A total of 24 new 3D printers for secondary schools have now been purchased.

The labour market data show it clearly: there is a desperate search for skilled workers in technical and manual trades in particular. This is one of the reasons why the problem is now being solved in schools. The “Lower Austria Media Print Challenge” school competition was launched as part of an initiative by state education minister Christiane Teschl-Hofmeister. 24 modern 3D printers will be on the road in middle schools in three years. The students can use software to create designs and have them printed into individual pieces using the devices. “It is very important to us to keep our finger on the pulse in the field of education in order to prepare our students as best as possible for developments in the labour market,” says the state councillor.
